When King Arthur is killed
in battle, Queen Guenevere sends her newborn to safety as the evil Mordred and Morgause seize Camelot. Shadoe un Hollo Tors, the estranged son of Merlin, remains behind
to protect his king's widow, only to witness her murder.
Following months of torture in prison, Shadoe is blessed with divine rescue but flees his homeland, embittered against God and his father, who apparently betrayed the Round Table. Then a promise wrung from him by the dying Merlin forces Shadoe to return to the land of his nightmares. He must protect the Emerald Rose talisman from those who would misuse its authority. Shadoe is amazed to discover that his father wasn't referring only to an object but to Emerald Rayn Rose, spirited warrior daughter of Arthur and Guenevere.
Wichman displays an unusual and bold flair for the dramatic. With a fresh, engaging voice, she uniquely spins the Arthurian legend. (Jan., 480 pp., $14.99)
