Linda Wichman
~*~About Me ~*~ My maiden name is, Holloway, which in the Romano Briton language means: a hollow beside the highway or road. I discovered I am not only of Irish/British roots, but also Scottish. Hopefully, that explains why this bard has written a historical fantasy romance based on the Stewarts/Stuarts of Scotland. As a child and youth some of my fondest memories were spent within imaginary worlds behind the covers of a book. Authors like: Charles Dickens, Sir Walter Scott, Jules Verne, H. G. Wells, C. S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, Mary Stewart, Kathleen E. Woodiwiss. While Stephen R. Lawhead, Orson Scott Card, and Frank Peretti continue to influence my desire to tell stories that stretch the imagination, heart and soul. My love for reading especially fantasy, science fiction and historical romance further spurred me to write novels. I was a Historical Romance Finalist in the 1984 (RWA) Romance Writers of America Golden Heart Contest. I am an active member of (ACFW) American Christian Fiction Writers and (RWA) Romance Writers of America. In order to spend quality time with my family I took a break from submitting, although, I continued to write and hone my craft. In 2000 the Lord called me to write for His glory, and I’m elated to be writing in the Spirit since then. Meanwhile, God guided my heart to use my gift of storytelling to influence the world for Christ Jesus. My first published novel, Legend of the Emerald Rose, based on the Stewarts/Stuarts of Scotland, debuted January 31st, 2005 through Kregel Publications. As goes my passion to better understand my Celtic heritage I am attempting to learn Scottish Gaelic, at least enough to not humiliate myself. Thus to all blessed Scots who speak the beautiful language of our forefathers let me explain, I want to learn Gaelic-‘Tha mi airson Gàidhlig ionnsachadh.’ And in humble apology for my stumbling tongue, I’m sorry-'Tha mi duilich.' ~*~
